Irish Regulator Investigates Musk's Social Platform X Over Age Verification Mechanism

The Irish media regulator has launched an investigation into Musk's social platform X, focusing on the effectiveness of its age verification mechanisms and parental control measures. The investigation will assess whether X effectively implements age protection measures and whether it provides adequate protection for users under 16 in the context of allowing adult content. The regulator pointed out that X's parental control features may have issues such as insufficient minimum requirements, difficulty in locating them, and inadequate prompts for new users. If X is found to violate Ireland's cybersecurity regulations, the regulator could impose fines of up to €20 million or 10% of the company's annual revenue.
