Ukrainian Investment Fraud Network Disrupted, 62 Victims from 20 Countries
The Ukrainian police and the Security Service of Ukraine have dismantled a network of fake investment platforms in Kyiv that defrauded clients in cryptocurrency. A total of 62 victims from over 20 countries, including Poland, have been identified. The organizers involved at least 46 individuals, and in the best months, the fraudsters intercepted even a million dollars. The group advertised supposedly profitable cryptocurrency projects on Telegram, showcasing fabricated transaction results. After registration, users deposited funds, but their balances were artificially inflated. When attempting to withdraw, the platform blocked access to the money, and users were directed to approve a trial operation, which led to the theft of all their crypto assets. After the theft, victims were blocked from the platform. The group also acquired personal data, creating a risk of secondary victimization. The police conducted 34 searches, securing over 100 computers, phones, documents, and 15 vehicles. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison. In 2025, CERT Polska recorded 260,783 cybersecurity incidents, of which 97% were computer frauds. Losses in cases handled by the Central Bureau of Cybercrime amounted to approximately 537 million PLN.
