Chinese Local Governments Announce Support Policies for OpenClaw and WeChat Integration
The local governments in China have announced support policies for the open-source AI agent OpenClaw, aiming to attract developers and businesses. Tencent will provide WeChat integration and cloud tools instead of subsidies. The Longgang District of Shenzhen prepared a draft support policy for OpenClaw on March 7 and made it public on the 11th, offering subsidies of up to 2 million yuan. Outstanding seed projects can receive up to 10 million yuan in equity investment. The Wuxi High-tech Zone also announced a draft support plan consisting of 12 policies on March 9. The policies from both regions involve local governments providing funding and conditions for businesses to attract developers and companies. Tencent held a public lecture on OpenClaw in Shenzhen on March 14 and launched ClawBot, which connects OpenClaw to WeChat, on March 22. OpenClaw is an AI agent that performs tasks directed by users, such as web browsing, file transfer, and email sending, and is closer to a 'behavioral AI' that connects with external services to handle real work. However, security warnings have also emerged, with a cyber threat information-sharing platform warning of network attack risks due to improper configurations of OpenClaw instances. Authorities are demanding safe configurations and operations.
