Bithumb Warns Against Fake AI Trading Malware
Bithumb is taking measures to prevent damage from malware disguised as artificial intelligence (AI) trading programs. If infected with malware, users' exchange accounts and personal wallet information may be leaked. In September, Bithumb launched an information security campaign to raise awareness about the risks of 'fake AI trading programs and investment analysis tools.' As digital asset investment services utilizing AI technology become more widespread, cybercrime is also on the rise. Attackers lure users with phrases like 'AI will trade automatically for high profits' and induce the installation of malicious files through search ads and social media. Infection with unauthorized programs can lead to the leakage of IDs, passwords, and login session cookies, as well as the theft of API keys and private keys from personal wallets. Bithumb advises users not to download unauthorized AI programs from unclear sources and to use official verification channels. They recommend using Bithumb's 'Bithumb AI Trade Kit' for AI trading services and emphasize that users should not grant withdrawal permissions when issuing API keys and should immediately discard any unused keys. In case of suspected infection, users should disconnect from the internet and change their passwords on other devices. A Bithumb representative urged caution against malware that exploits AI for information theft and stated that they will strengthen security systems and expand prevention campaigns.
