Sales of Used Electric Vehicles in Ukraine Increased by 7.8% in August
In August, 9,074 passenger electric vehicles were sold in Ukraine, which is 7.8% more than in July. The main growth was driven by the import of used cars, although the overall market is still 20.7% lower than last year's level. Domestic resales accounted for 4,957 electric vehicles, or 54.6% of the market, increasing by 2.3% month-on-month and by 38.2% year-on-year. A total of 3,613 used electric vehicles were imported, which contributed about two-thirds of the monthly increase, although their number is 38.9% lower than in August 2022. 504 new electric vehicles were registered, which is 27.9% more than in July but 74.1% less than a year ago. All new cars were imported. Electric vehicles accounted for 9.3% of all passenger car transactions, compared to 8.3% in July and 10.8% a year ago. Tesla remained the sales leader with 2,342 cars sold, followed by Nissan with 1,227 and Volkswagen with 745. Among models, the Nissan Leaf topped the list with 1,087 sales. The average age of electric vehicles was 5.5 years, with 58.3% of the market consisting of cars under five years old, while the share of electric cars older than 11 years increased to 13.2%.
