Rocket suspends operations after $287K loss from market manipulation
Rocket has suspended deposits, withdrawals, and trading after an attacker manipulated a dormant perpetual market, withdrawing approximately 287000 dollars in positive PnL. The incident occurred on Sept. 5 at around 19:00 UTC, where the attacker used inflated orders and self-trades to create artificial profits before withdrawing the funds. Rocket is currently collaborating with security firms and law enforcement to investigate the incident and trace the stolen assets. The platform is also coordinating with exchanges, bridges, and stablecoin issuers to freeze the stolen funds. A recovery plan is being prepared, prioritizing refunds for smaller affected accounts. Rocket has not disclosed the timeline for restoring services or the number of users affected by the loss. The platform has warned users about impersonators and stated that recovery information will only be shared through official channels.
