U.S. Treasury to Announce Maximum Amount for 10 to 20-Year Treasury Bond Buybacks
The U.S. Treasury will announce the maximum amount planned for the buyback of 10 to 20-year U.S. Treasury bonds on September 10 at 11 AM Eastern Time (11 PM Beijing Time). The Treasury previously stated that before November 4, it would buy back at least $4 billion in long-term Treasury bonds during each buyback, an increase from the previous $2 billion. The Treasury reserves the right to expand the buyback scale, and the market generally expects that Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen's buyback efforts will exceed previous targets.
