Scholarships up to 4660 UAH per month exempt from taxes starting in 2026

Ukrainian enterprises can pay scholarships to students and pupils tax-free based on an agreement with the educational institution. In 2026, amounts up to 4660 UAH per month will be fully exempt from personal income tax and military tax. These rules apply to pupils, students, cadets of military educational institutions, interns, graduate students, and adjuncts. If the scholarship exceeds 4660 UAH, taxes are charged only on the amount exceeding this limit. For example, when paying 6000 UAH per month, 1340 UAH will be subject to taxation, of which 18% is withheld as personal income tax and 5% as military tax. Starting from September 1, academic scholarships in Ukraine will double: the basic payment for higher education students will increase from 2000 to 4000 UAH, and for specialties with increased scholarship amounts, it will rise from 2550 to 5100 UAH.
