Samsung Electronics Develops AI Glasses with Display, Expected to Launch in Second Half of 2027
Samsung Electronics is developing its first AI glasses equipped with a display, which will provide audio functionality and display colorful visual information on the lenses. The company is considering the development of ultra-small screens measuring 0.2 inches or smaller and has assigned the R&D task to Samsung Display, outlining requirements regarding the product's dimensions, information display area, colors, and pricing. Currently, Samsung is evaluating candidate panel solutions such as OLEDoS or LEDoS, with the product expected to be released in the second half of 2027 or the first half of 2028. Specific details have yet to be determined, with color display expected to utilize a limited grayscale of 4-bit colors rather than a high-definition screen, and the design has not yet been decided as binocular or monocular. Industry insiders point out that RGB OLEDoS faces challenges in pricing and yield, and a white OLEDoS panel may be introduced. Samsung previously released AI glasses without a display, with joint development partners including Google, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker.
