Russia spends 10.687 trillion rubles on war in the first half of 2026
Russia's federal budget expenditures on the war against Ukraine in the first half of 2026 amounted to 10.687 trillion rubles (approximately 123.4 billion dollars). Funding for the military and arms production increased by 30% compared to the same period last year, totaling 2.46 trillion rubles (28.4 billion dollars). Military spending rose by 65% compared to January-June 2024 and by 145% compared to the first half of 2023. On average, the Russian army spends 1.78 trillion rubles (20.6 billion dollars) per month, which is about 2.5 billion rubles (28.9 million dollars) per hour. 43.8% of all federal budget expenditures are directed towards military needs, which is a historical maximum. 57.3% of all budget revenues were allocated to military funding. Two-thirds of the military budget remains classified, while disclosed expenditures amounted to 3.546 trillion rubles (40.9 billion dollars). Since the beginning of 2022, 57.144 trillion rubles (660 billion dollars) have been spent on the military and arms procurement. The budget deficit reached 6.45 trillion rubles (74.5 billion dollars) by early August, which is double the planned figure.
