Namelaka Confectionery in Kyiv Temporarily Closed Due to Employee Poisoning
Namelaka Confectionery on Bolshaya Vasilykovskaya Street in Kyiv has temporarily suspended operations due to a mass illness among employees and cases of poisoning among visitors. The first symptoms of food poisoning in an employee were identified on August 29, and by September 2, the number of sick individuals had risen to 27. Laboratory tests revealed a dangerous pathogen, including salmonella in two of the first ten tested employees. The establishment halted operations, disposed of its products, conducted disinfection, and sent staff into quarantine. Water quality checks confirmed its safety. The administration is aware of three visitors with symptoms of intestinal infection and is covering the treatment costs for one of them. Another branch of the chain in Podil continues to operate as usual, with no reported cases of illness among its employees.
