Former Bank of England Deputy Governor Joins Fnality as Chairman
Former Bank of England Deputy Governor Jon Cunliffe has joined blockchain payment company Fnality as the Chairman of the UK entity's board. Former Director of Payment Systems at the Deutsche Bundesbank, Jochen Metzger, has been appointed as a member of the supervisory board of Fnality Europe and is expected to serve as its chairman. Ron Berndsen will also join the supervisory board of Fnality Europe; he previously held positions as the regulatory supervisor and market infrastructure policy head at the Dutch central bank. Fnality, headquartered in London, operates a wholesale payment system that allows banks to settle debts using central bank currency balances. Its pound payment system is regulated by the Bank of England and was launched in 2023, with applications for regulatory approval to launch dollar and euro payment versions underway.
