Bitcoin Hashrate Fails to Surpass Historic High in 312 Days
The Bitcoin hashrate stands at 910 EH/s, below the historic high of 1.13 ZH/s reached on October 28, 2025. Since then, 312 days have passed without a new record in computing power. This period contrasts with the previous two years, when the hashrate more than doubled its capacity and reached new highs. The trend has been negative since last October. Currently, the hashrate is 19.5% below the peak of 1.13 ZH/s. The decline does not imply that Bitcoin has lost security, as the network automatically adjusts the mining difficulty to maintain the interval between blocks close to 10 minutes. A 1.23% increase is projected in the next difficulty adjustment, indicating that the effective hashrate has been slightly above the necessary level. Two factors explain the decline in hashrate: the decrease in expected mining revenues, with the price of BTC currently 36% below the historic high of $126,000, and the migration of miners to computing services for artificial intelligence. Without changes in these factors, it is likely that the hashrate will continue to not set a new historic high, although the network continues to operate with computing power higher than before the growth that stopped in October 2025.
